Course Goals:
1. Understand the basic theoretical contexts inherent to social science research and evaluate their efficacy.
2. Formulate hypotheses, construct research designs, and apply appropriate analytical skills, including quantitative reasoning, to the study of political science.
3. Understand the importance of evidence to support your claims and test your hypotheses
4. Think critically about information you consume, such as media reports, political rhetoric, and cited research.
5. Develop and apply skills for effective formal and informal public discussion (written and oral) in the discipline, which contributes to the common good in diverse societies.
6. Consider carefully, the ethical dilemmas inherent in research and the impact that research has on the participants and consumers, and apply methods for mitigating those ethical concerns.
